AudioFast Privacy Policy
Your audio stays on your Mac. AudioFast is a fully offline audio editor: it does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics SDKs and no ads, and the app itself has no network permission.
1. What do we collect?
Nothing.
- No telemetry, no usage tracking, no automatic crash uploads
- No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs (the only third-party code is the LAME MP3 encoder, which only does encoding work on your Mac and has no networking or analytics ability)
- No accounts, no sign-in, no device identifiers
- The app runs in the macOS sandbox and does not request network access, so it is technically unable to send any data out
2. Which files and folders does the app access?
Only the files and folders you deliberately give it:
| When | What is accessed |
|---|---|
| Importing / opening audio | Audio and video files you hand to AudioFast through "Import Audio", "Open Audio File", drag and drop, or Open With in Finder. They are only read; the originals are not changed |
| Opening a folder | The folder you choose with "Open Folder" or by dragging it in: AudioFast lists the audio files in it (subfolders included) so you can open them for editing. Only when you edit a file and press "Save" is that one file written back (you are asked to confirm the first time, and you can save a copy instead). Nothing is changed unless you save |
| Exporting / Save As / batch processing | The location you pick in the save panel or under "Output to", where new files are written |
| Project files | The location you pick when saving a project, where an .audiofast project is written. A project only records where your audio files are (paths and macOS security-scoped bookmarks) and does not copy your original audio |
The app never scans your disk, never reads files you did not choose, and does not ask for microphone, camera, contacts, location, photos or any other privacy permission.
3. What is stored on your Mac?
| Content | Where |
|---|---|
| Preferences: volume, loop, whether the inspector is shown, export format and bitrate, silence settings and so on; recently opened projects and folders and the last batch output folder (kept as macOS security-scoped bookmarks, used only to open them again) | UserDefaults inside the app's sandbox container |
| Waveform cache: a summary of the waveform of audio you have imported, computed from the audio and not containing the audio itself; capped at 512 MB, with the least recently used entries removed first | The caches folder inside the app's sandbox container |
| Recovery copy: written periodically while there are unsaved changes, used only to restore your work after an unexpected quit. It contains the project description and any audio generated by merging, not your original audio files; it is deleted automatically after you save or quit normally, and kept for 14 days at most | Application Support inside the app's sandbox container |
| Temporary files: intermediate files while merging and exporting | The system temporary folder, removed when finished |
| Your edits | Only projects you save and audio files you export or save are kept. Otherwise nothing from an editing session remains after you quit. You are warned about unsaved changes before quitting |
All of this takes very little space. To remove it completely, uninstall the app and delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.xwzy.audiofast.
4. Privacy manifest and Apple
- The app ships with a privacy manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy): no tracking, no data types collected. It only declares three kinds of system API use: UserDefaults (to store the preferences above), disk space (to check free space before writing files) and file timestamps (to tell whether a waveform cache entry is still valid and to clean up old ones)
- When you download AudioFast from the App Store, Apple handles download-related information under its own privacy policy; we cannot use it to identify you
5. Third-party components
| Component | Purpose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| LAME 3.100 (LGPL) | MP3 encoding | Runs on your Mac, no networking. lame.sourceforge.io |
6. Children's privacy
AudioFast does not collect data from anyone, including children.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change. Significant changes to how data is handled will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
